Our Office

Well, I hope to redo our entire office during my little break in August! I'm getting excited! I've been hunting for cute furniture thats not too pricey and trying to organize. I tend to do my hw on the couch and have started getting back and neck aches and think that might have to do with it, therefore I decided I need a good desk to do hw at as well as a place to think without the tv in front of me, and also a room I like and want to go in!!

I haven't bought anything yet tho....:-/ BUT I found a desk I like, that I'm thinking about...its a little pricey but it's the cheaper version of the pottery barn one I am in love with....see below....

I also would love to find some antique piece that isn't overwhelmingly chunky for storage in the room, I'm having trouble though...I've found pieces I like that are too expensive, or ones that need refinished and I'm just not sure I would follow through with that....so I'm stuck there. I found a great one that is a great color yesterday...however it seriously smelled like manure...ya... so I'm thinking about it! ha

I think I'm coming close to determining the right paint color....a very light gray....at first I wanted to stencil an entire wall...its adorable believe me. however, everyone that I read that did it said it was so much work they wouldn't do it again etc etc. It would look great but maybe some other time....ha

Also, I just found curtains I LOVE! on a website called westelm , I never heard of it but then I saw ladies throughout the blogworld talk about it, so I checked it out. The curtains seem a little pricey to me, but finding adorable curtains in a clearance bin is just almost impossible for me! I'm so impatient! ha
So those are my plans......we shall see what gets done before September...my goal is to have a place to do my hw for the fall semester, one thats organized and beautiful! However, I was supposed to make curtains for my living room before Christmas 2010....still bare..........:-)

UPdates!

Remember that whole snowpacalypse 2011? Well here are the results from that...I FINALLY used my sewing machine! :-) for pillows...but whatev!
A lovely pillow for our cute puppy to rest on so she'll get off mine!
This is just an accent pillow for our guest room
I baked a little too.....don't remember what this is called, but boy was it yummy! Often the things that look the worst are the best!

Here are the results of the basics cake class I took....baking a cake every week was a bit stressful for me, since my oven doesn't always want to bake thoroughly and I suck at icing, oh and my lovely $200 kitchenaide mixer refuses to work on the stir setting...but hey we got through it! :-)

Here is that "M" for Molly I spoke of before....sometimes I hang her collar and leash on it!

This was just a yummy easy meal-baked ziti!
And last but not least-my latest project. A magnetic bulletin board. We saw these at affair of the heart and my sister and I loved them, but didn't want to pay alot for them, and said we could just make it.....which we say that about a lot of stuff but never do....So for her birthday I made my sister this one. I hope she likes it! its a surprise and ended up being easier than I thought! It cost more than it should have too but I really wasn't in the mood to track down a decent frame and paint it and all, I looked at goodwill once but didn't see anything I liked.

I basically just figured it out on my own, I did a little research online but didn't follow any one person's steps. although I found out you can cut metal with basic scissors-woot! I bought the frame at hob lob, had them put a hanger and back on it since it is a gift and all. I bought a sheet of metal and cut it to size. I bought some fabric and used sticky spray glue around the edges....I'm wondering if I should have sprayed it all over though, but I was too nervous about the fabric looking lopsided and such so I did a side at a time. As for the magnets I saw online that you can just attach a magnet to a button-super easy: buy a fabric covered button making kit and follow directions for button, then glue magnet on to back-woot!

The picture doesn't do it much justice, but I love it! I'm also still in the process of making magnets for it, thats what those 3 little button like things are.

Cooking......

So when I first decided I wanted a blog it was because I had really funny cooking things happen to me. While they stressed me out at the time, as I look back I laugh. Tonight it happened again.....
I decided to try out chicken parmigiana from my Rachel Ray cookbook....simple enough right? NO! especially since I'm not a big cook.
1. I read the ingredients wrong before I went shopping. I read 1 cup of parmigiana reggiano (or whatever) as parmesan like ragu....HAHA and I found ragu named parmigiano something, I thought this was to be the sauce.
2. Because of #1 I didn't make sure that I had parmesan cheese which is what I really needed...
3. I pulled out my chicken from the freezer and it was super frozen together...UGH
4. At the beginning you dip the chicken in flour, egg and then breadcrumbs with parmesan cheese.....not even realizing yet that I had the whole parmesan mixup, I put mozzerella cheese in the bowl to dip with. My husband says I never understand cheeses....he is right, I Just can't seem to get those two in my head!
5. Finally realize I made the mistake and hubby goes out for parmesan cheese...he's so sweet-had to go to 2 places! and I had already gone grocery shopping earlier today. haha
6. I got it all together eventually...I do not normally do meals which require so many steps but I always feel good when I finish even if I'm a brat during. :-)

Anywho, it ended up pretty good. Hubby says he liked it and I think I did too, it was a little garlicy tho so I think next time I would make my own adjustments! But I'm so glad I tried something new and it was somewhat of a success! Hubby is even taking leftovers for lunch tomorrow! YAY! :-)

This was my 3rd new meal I made, one night over break I sat down and picked out a few recipes I've never tried. I also made cheddar broccoli soup-yum! I feel like a good wife when I cook real meals that don't come in a frozen bag!

Welp tomorrow I've got a long long day of school and then cheer practice, boo. ha I better get! Maybe I'll go finish my big letter "M" I'm making for Molly, our puppy! I sure do miss crafty like projects! my goal for making curtains was by christmas.....woops....I still haven't picked out material! DANGIT! know any good places?
